About this property

Welcome to Governors Inn

Governors Inn is a genteel boutique hotel and bed & breakfast located in downtown Tallahassee, just steps from the Florida State Capitol and nearby historic sites. Housed in a historic 1920s building that once served as a stable and warehouse, the property preserves original features such as exposed brick walls and antique furnishings, creating a warm, character-rich atmosphere. Each guest room is individually named after a Florida governor, adding a distinct local touch.

The hotel offers practical amenities including free Wi-Fi, complimentary continental breakfast with waffles, and an evening cocktail hour. While there is no pool or on-site restaurant, a bar is available and various dining options are within walking distance. Additional facilities include a business center and accessible parking, though there is no elevator, which may be a consideration for some guests, especially those with mobility challenges or heavy luggage.

Guests frequently praise the friendly and accommodating staff as well as the comfortable beds, though some note the hotel's older infrastructure and occasional maintenance issues. The location is particularly convenient for visitors attending events at the nearby Tucker Civic Center or exploring attractions like the Museum of Florida History and Cascades Park. Rates reportedly fluctuate depending on local events, reflecting the hotel's role as a central hub in the city.

Governors Inn is suited for travelers seeking a quiet, historic setting within walking distance of Tallahassee's key landmarks. It works well for business visitors and leisure guests who value a boutique experience over extensive modern amenities. The service was great, all staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The beds are very tall and I'm quite short which made for a minor middle of the night bathroom visit fiasco. I was on the 3rd floor and the stairs are not all together, so it's quite a journey from the ground floor to the top. If you're on the 3rd floor, you may do well to bring along a few hobbits, a wizard, a dwarf, and an elf to ensure your safe arrival. All in all, it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend this hotel.

I was attending a concert at the Tucker Civic Center. The hotel was easy walking distance. The room was beautiful with 4 poster beds. They had a free happy hour, serving beer and wine and a free continental breakfast with waffles. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Enjoyed it very much, would stay there again.

Stayed here because the Aloft and another national chain were booked and so glad I did! The room is spacious and well- appointed, there is a nice little breakfast offering each day and an evening cocktail hour, the wifi is free, and the hotel is quiet overall. It is great for a business trip. I believe the price is lower because there aren't the standard amenities of an on-site restaurant or gym, but these can be found within walking distance and it's nice to not be paying for things I may not use. In room refrigerator makes it easy to grab snacks to eat on your own schedule. I'd stay here again easily.

The place is an older building, so if you're looking for a pristine place, this would not be it. But it has character. The furniture looks old to keep up with the decor and there's historical factoids on the walls about Florida governership. The staff was very accommodating and tried to help as much as they could. Our room had an issue with the A/C and they upgraded us quickly, and the new room had been a bit dirty. Not necessarily their fault because the housekeeping messed up. They sincerely apologized and got it taken care of quick. It's really a cool hotel. If you have an issue, they'll take care of it. Would love to stay again.

Lovely hotel in an historic building with a very friendly and helpful staff in an excellent centrally located location. I definitely recommend the valet service which is an up charge to your room rate as the nearest parking is a garage a block or so away which will cost you about the same amount. Very nice breakfast included with my stay, although they do end it a bit early, so set your alarm accordingly if you wish to partake. I noticed several parties being turned away for arriving late to breakfast. Beds are extremely comfortable, and although the television system is a bit quirky, the staff was quick to come to my room and show how to use it. Be aware that rates very extraordinarily due to activities occurring in Tallahassee. I’ve paid as little as $71 and I’ve seen rates as high as $400 online. Call so it is important to be aware that there are no elevators to the second floor, however the staff was eager to help carry my luggage up. I have stayed at this hotel on numerous occasions and will continue to do so.

My stay at Governors Inn in Tallahassee, Florida, was absolutely fantastic! This charming boutique hotel offers a unique blend of historic charm, modern comfort, and Southern hospitality, making it an unforgettable experience. The location is perfect, right in the heart of downtown Tallahassee, just steps away from the Florida State Capitol, the Supreme Court, and a variety of shops and restaurants. The hotel’s central position makes it easy to explore all that Tallahassee has to offer. What makes Governors Inn truly special is its rich history. The building was originally constructed in the 1920s as a stable and warehouse, and in the 1980s, it was transformed into the boutique hotel it is today. The hotel has preserved many of its original features, including exposed brick walls, wooden beams, and antique furnishings, which give it a warm and inviting atmosphere. Each room is named after a Florida governor, adding a personal touch and a connection to the state’s history. The rooms were spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the modern amenities you could need. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the attention to detail in the room’s decor was impressive. I especially loved the historical touches throughout the hotel, which made the stay feel like stepping back in time, but with all the conveniences of the present. One of the highlights of my stay was the exceptional service. The staff were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to ensure that my stay was perfect. They provided great recommendations for local dining and attractions, making my visit to Tallahassee even more enjoyable. Overall, Governors Inn offers a five-star experience with its unique historical charm, prime location, and outstanding service. It’s the perfect choice for anyone looking to experience the best of Tallahassee in a setting that’s both luxurious and steeped in history. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area!

Hotel was booked for us by a good friend, and then wife checked a few of the reviews and focused on the negative ones, so we had some concerns about the cleanliness; which was a mistake. We had a wonderful experience there. Bathroom was spotless, bedding was immaculate, in fact we stayed an extra night. Conveniently located, and even with Covid restrictions around the neighborhood some good restaurants were available. The hotel is very well run, they have strict Covid rules in place and we felt very safe there. Hotel has a cool theme, each room named after a governor, and a bio of same next to each door. Highly recommended.

Interesting old hotel. We stayed on the 3rd floor. Had a room with 2 queen beds. Room 305, the last room. We are senior citizens and were astounded to learn there was no elevator!! We had to carry our bags up two flights of stairs and lug them to the absolute farthest room in hotel. However, excellent location if you are interested in the Florida State Museum or the Capitol Building or the college. All within a few blocks walk. A couple of restaurants across the street from hotel. Hotel has valet parking at 12.00 per day. A light breakfast is provided with room. Four poster beds with a handy stool if you are short like me to get into bed. Antique furnishings.
